Pinnacle Polymers, LLC, a privately-owned polypropylene manufacturing facility, has an opening for a Production Training Coordinator.

 

The Training Coordinator supports the Operations department by driving continuous performance improvements through knowledge share and effective training processes. The Training Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert in the Wash/Load, Extruder, Purification, Reactor, and Control Room areas. 

 

Main responsibilities and key tasks 

 

  • Manage training and progression plans for Operators and conducts onboarding of new Operations employees
  • Partner with Shift Supervisors and Production Manager to identify onboarding and training process improvements
  • Create and maintain training material including certification matrix, manuals, checklists, and exams
  • Perform training one on one and/or in a group setting. Training takes place in both a classroom/office setting as well as in the field.
  • Audit, redline, and update Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) as needed
  • Create and update standard lockouts inventory sheets
  • Maintain SOP and MOC change acknowledgement records
  • Coordinate with SHE Department to ensure safe practices are maintained throughout the work areas
  • Provide technical support for day to day operations activities including product transition and upset conditions
  • Serve as backup for the Production Manager
  • Support scheduled and unscheduled plant shutdowns and startups
  • Act as LOTO Coordinator during turnarounds and Shutdown/Startup Coordinator
  • Provide 24 hour on-call support
  • Other duties as assigned  

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

 

  • Must be able to certify in all Operation work areas
  • Must be willing and able to safely, effectively and efficiently carry out written and verbal job-related instructions, and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate with employees across multiple departments and outside vendors.
  • Knowledge of the chemical hazards of the process unit and all logic associated with the safe operation of equipment as dictated by the area of operation.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 requirements (preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills in an individual and group setting
  • Must work well as a member of a group as well as an individual contributor.
  • Hands-on work ethic

 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment 

 

  • Normal Production Plant environment with controlled climate as well as outside elements, which at times may include extreme heat or extreme cold.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job which are: frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them, focus on one source of sound and ignore others, understand speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand.  Use of radio communications and hearing protection is required in process operation areas.  
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.

 

Required Qualifications 

 

  • Associates Degree in Process Technology (P-Tech) or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of operations work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SAP
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to teach and train others
  • Leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to work in the U.S. and obtain successful completion of a pre-employment background check and screening.
